Chelsea VonChaz, stylist turned non-profit ceo, founded the #HappyPeriod organization in 2015. #HappyPeriod provides menstrual products to individuals who have low-income and/or may be experiencing homelessness. VonChaz started the organization after witnessing a homeless woman free-bleeding in Hollywood, CA.

On this episode Audrey talks with Happy Period founder, Chelsea VonChaz, about our Aunt Flo. Chelsea talks about the shame that is attached with periods and how her experience with seeing a homeless woman on their monthly changed her life.

“I saw this and had so many questions. ‘What do you do when you’re homeless and you have your period?’  ‘What are your resources?’ and ‘What can I do?’”

Chelsea goes on to talk about what keeps her motivated and why she thinks others should follow their passion.

“This has brought me tremendous amounts of happiness even in the struggle. I believe you should create whatever it is you wish existed. I saw that women and I thought, I’m not gonna wait for someone else to give me permission I’m just going to do it myself”
